Happy 2/29!

In honor of leap year day, a funny screenshot. There's K dancing with a little baby sapling, our friend Lonebear. Jess is clearly amused (though that big axe she is carrying kinda scares us), while Atania in the corner is so calmed by the zen like sight of dancing trees that she has fallen asleep.

A new job?

I'm checking out the news on cnn.com this morning and come across this article about wooing not only female gamers, but creators. Sony has created a scholarship to attract more women to careers in game development. Its funny because I was mentioning to Jess the other day how I'd love to be the one creating and designing all the outfits in WOW. I've always wanted to be a fashion designer... why not in a game?

They say in this article that 38% of gamers are female, which sounds a little high to me. I don't know.... maybe they're adding games like the Sims. I still think though that there is a certain tag attached to female gamers. Its funny because as I start dating again, playing WOW is not information that I'm willingly supplying from the beginning. I mean I am a geek, but its not really apparent from the outside. It'll be interesting to get guys' reactions as they find out!

Time for a little trip?

I've been a little MIA lately... life's been busy plus I've been snowed in here in Chicago. Really, it's been snowing non stop here! All the snow has me thinking of great trips to go on. I did see a couple weeks ago that Blizzard's Worldwide Invitational is this June in freakin' Paris! I've been to Paris once before but definitely wouldn't mind going again. Can you imagine the conversation I'd have with friends and family?

Friends and Family: Oh, you're going to Paris again?
Me: Um, yeah.
Friends and Family:What is it you want a second look at? The Louvre? The Eiffel Tower? Sacre Coeur?
Me: Um, I'm actually going for this video game convention...

Sigh... my geekiness overwhelms me.

One year ago...

I started playing this crazy game. I was asked the other day how I started. Yes, I had played games online before, but more of the tame (or lame) puzzle variety. Before that, the last game I played before WOW was probably Nintendo back in the late 80s! I can't even remember now where I had heard of this game before. I do distinctly remember buying the game at a Best Buy and feeling kind of odd as one guy working there pointed me out to one of his coworkers.

But I started playing because I needed something to occupy my time, as I was in a very long distance (as in passport required for visits) relationship. It's kind of crazy to think back to why I started playing... as I would definitely say that having the game to focus on as well as the support of friends I made in game kept me from losing my mind when that relationship came to a necessary end.

So that's how I started... why do I stay? Well I do think that Blizzard does a great job of making WOW be many different things to different players. Not everyone has to raid. I've definitely entertained myself with battlegrounds and making money in addition to seeing new instances. I guess I stay also because I do want to see new things in game, and hopefully K will get her ass in Kara soon. But ultimately I stay because of the social aspect of the friends I made in game. Its really crazy to think how close you can get to people you meet in game. I mean they're your friends, but you've never really met them. Without them, I'd be just a crazy blue haired nightelf running around... and I don't think I'd still be around one year later.

Happy Birthday to Jess and K's new Dress

A big happy birthday to K's tank (yes, she's all mine) Jess whose 1 year WOW birthday is today.

So last night K decided to run around and participate in the V Day festivities. She did get [Lovely Black Dress]. But even with the dress on, she still got her heart broken. Quite a bit in Darnassus (those night elves are pure evil) and even a bit in IF. I mean come on, a short little dwarf man is going to break K's heart? When she's wearing a hot backless dress like this? How does that make sense?

Healing update 2.12.08

I've updated a ring, got pvp boots and went ahead and got the +81 healing enchant on my weapon. Now I did get [Scarab of the Infinite Cycle] in BM, which would put my +healing at 1409. But at this point, I don't think I need all that +healing and would rather have the MP5 and +healing uses from my current two trinkets. Plus it looks like its more a caster trinket anyway.

All stats unbuffed, no potions, no food, no scrolls, no nothing!

Weekend update

Lots to update on!

1. We ran BRK's gnaked gnome race on Saturday. Check out my pics:

Kimchee survived the run. And let me just say, gnomes have some cute bottoms! Look at her shaking hers.

2. So my alchemy specialization is transmute mastery. It seems lately that I have been getting more discoveries and double transmutes than before. Is it just me?

3. Make sure you have your pve gear on when you're doing pve. We ran Wut through SV, and I didn't realize until we were done that I had my pvp trinket on! Oops. Fortunately it didn't matter.

4. Herbalists + Dead Mire = Major Win. I've mentioned this before, but I love flying around the Dead Mire in Zanga to herb all the bog lord bodies others killed. I guess this is how skinners feel in Nagrand.

5. Is the tide turning in AV? So it used to be that alliance would win most of the AV runs I was in. However, there has been a nasty trend lately. Probably a combination of Horde turtling or Alliance folk not fighting at flags or capturing graveyards has led to a lot of AV losses for me. :( I ran 8 AVs before I finally won one. The only good thing about turtles though is that I get to see nice numbers below. I did finally get enough honor to update my boots, updated healing gear and stats post coming soon.

6. We finally got keyed for Kara. Black Morass wasn't so bad once we figured out what was going on. I definitely think our off tank Wutan worked the hardest, gathering all the adds before they could get to the NPC. The last boss also dropped the Handgrips of Assassination for our happy and lucky rogue Atania. She now has 3 pieces of the set, and every single piece dropped for her our first time in that instance!

The motes... they calls me

Last night I did a marathon 2 hour fishing session, which I haven't done in a while. I would have stopped earlier, but I couldn't stop! The motes of water, they kept calling me... begging to be fished. And who am I to refuse them?

I know I keep harping on this crazy fishing thing, but here's what I got in my 2 hours:
- 70 Motes of Water, yes 7 Primal waters
- 60 Icefin Bluefish
- 57 Figluster's Mudfish
- 4 Huge Spotted Feltail
- 7 Enormous Barbed Gill Trout
- 21 Fel Iron Ore
- 8 Knothide Leather Scraps
- 10 Netherweave Cloth
- 5 Scrolls of Spirit V
- 2 Scrolls each of Stamina V, Protection V, Agility V, and Strength V

On another front, I am ready for this Saturday's race. I started my gnome last night. It's going to be weird to have a non healing character! Anyways, thanks to Jess (my tank, my in-game and real-life therapist) for the naming suggestion. I have this thing where all my alliance characters start with the letter K.

So introducing my new gnome warlock Kimchee. And yes, she's spicy.

Come join us

I was just mentioning to Jess last night how darned cute gnomes are and how I should start one.

Well here's a good a reason as any. BRK is hosting a naked gnome race on Drenden this Saturday at 7 pm server time (EST). See the details here.

I will be there. Now I need to think of a good name so that if any of you guys are there as well, you'll know its me. Hmmm...

How you know it's going bad...

...when you see K cast regrowth.

Over the weekend we ran Mechanar, Botanica, and Arcatraz. Now in Botanica, it was our pally Wutan, Jess, and I and then we picked up a fury warrior (in epics... but all pvp gear) and a feral druid. Yeah, a full strike force. No ranged dps. The warrior was quite impatient and would run into mobs on his own, or not wait for Jess to get aggro.

Jess was saying she could tell that things were quite crazy on my end, because my heals were all over the place. Typically I'll cast a rejuvenation and keep up a 3 stack of lifebloom on Jess. Then I just throw around some rejuvenations on the others as needed. Well in Botanica, I had to bust out the regrowth, which I hardly ever use.

Oh and let me just say, that last boss in Botanica... what a sad fight for us resto druids, taking down the big tree boss! When we took down the boss, those tree adds he summons were still around and on me. I asked the others to take down the trees, which actually look just liked me in tree form! I think for a second the group couldn't tell the difference between me and the adds.
